This was a project made for 18th century october, I wanted to make a Chemise a la Reine but lacked the required lightweight cotton. So I decided to make an inaccurate – but quite pretty – version of the dress using polyester shantung and scraps of silk taffeta.
The bodice is boned to give a nice silhouette, and laces up the back with hand sewn eyelets. The skirt is a very full rectangle worn over several layers of petticoats and a roll. It was made over a two week period, and has less than twenty dollars worth of material in it.
I have two posts about how I made it.

I take it that since you boned the bodice and it laces up, you wouldn’t need to wear stays with it? Or am I wrong?
Absolutely adore this!!!! 🙂
